National Tap Dance Day was declared in remembrance of tap pioneer Bill “Bojangles” Robinson and Las Vegas is celebrating the national dance holiday with extending the history of Las Vegas Entertainment in Tap.
Many Legends of tap have embraced this city with quality tap performances including the late greats, Sammy Davis Jr., resident Dr. Henry LeTang, Gregory Hines,Dr. Prince Spencer and Maceo Anderson and The Four Step Brothers, Dr. Bunny Briggs, Cholly Atkins, Donald O’Connor.
The Las Vegas Tap Fest was conceived May 25, 2013 on National Tap Dance Day as a one day event full of classes, a show, and jam. Its purpose is to enhance the culture of tap dance in the Las Vegas Community. Since then the one day event has grown into a full organization with running programs and events with a team of volunteers, staff, partners and faculty members.
This festival will continue to keep the tradition of tap dance alive in the great city of Las Vegas, NV.
